Court Status · DRT Ahmedabad

You filed or received a recovery notice and you need to know where the matter stands at the Ahmedabad Debts Recovery Tribunal. The next date, the stage and the last order are all on record, but finding them is slower than it should be. To check DRT Ahmedabad case status, open the official DRT portal, choose Ahmedabad, and search by diary number, case number or party name. You can also search DRT Ahmedabad by party name inside Claw with a free account.

The short answer
  • Official check: drt.gov.in, Case Detail, select Ahmedabad, search by diary number, case number or party name.
  • Territory: Gujarat and the Union Territory of Dadra and Nagar Haveli and Daman and Diu.
  • Law: RDDBFI Act, 1993 recovery claims and SARFAESI Section 17 challenges; appeals go to DRAT.
  • In Claw: a free account lets you search DRT Ahmedabad by party name or number, with alerts.

01How to check DRT Ahmedabad case status on the official portal

The Debts Recovery Tribunals run on the national e-DRT system. The case status page is free and needs no login. Follow these steps.

  1. Open the official DRT website, drt.gov.in, and click the Case Detail tab on the home page.
  2. Pick your search type: diary number wise, case number wise, or party name.
  3. Select the tribunal name as Ahmedabad.
  4. For a number search, select the case type, then enter the number and the year.
  5. For a party name search, type the name of the borrower, guarantor or bank, and set the year.
  6. Submit. Open the matching case to see the current status, the next hearing date and the order history.

Keep your diary number

A diary number is given when you file or e-file, before the final case number is allotted. If you only hold the diary number, search with that first. Matters filed under the Recovery of Debts and Bankruptcy Act, 1993 (OA) and SARFAESI Section 17 challenges (SA) get their own case numbers once registered.

02Search methods compared

Which method to use depends on what you have in hand. A number is exact and fast. A name is flexible but returns more results.

MethodWhat you needBest whenWatch out for
Diary numberDiary number and yearThe case is newly filed and has no case number yetNumber changes to a case number after scrutiny
Case numberCase type, number, yearYou have the OA or SA number from an order or noticeWrong case type gives no result
Party nameBorrower, guarantor or bank nameYou do not have any numberMany similar names, spelling and short forms of bank names

Party name search on the official portal can be strict about spelling. Try the short and long form of a bank name, and try the company name without "Pvt Ltd" if nothing appears.

03What the Ahmedabad bench covers

The Debts Recovery Tribunal at Ahmedabad hears recovery claims of banks and financial institutions under the Recovery of Debts and Bankruptcy Act, 1993 (also called RDDBFI). It also hears borrower challenges to SARFAESI action under Section 17 of the SARFAESI Act, 2002. Appeals from its orders go to the Debts Recovery Appellate Tribunal (DRAT), not to the High Court.

For territory, Ahmedabad DRT covers the State of Gujarat and the Union Territory of Dadra and Nagar Haveli and Daman and Diu. A bank branch in Surat, Vadodara, Rajkot or Ahmedabad itself will therefore file here.

This matters for status checks. If you pick the wrong tribunal on the portal, your case will not show up even if the number is correct. A claim above the statutory floor goes to the DRT, while smaller ones go to the civil court.

For how DRT and DRAT fit together across India, see the DRT and DRAT case search guide.

04Status words explained

The status screen uses short words. Here is what they mean at a recovery tribunal.

StatusWhat it means for you
PendingThe case is still open. Reply, evidence or arguments are yet to finish.
DisposedThe tribunal has finished the case. Read the final order for the result and any appeal period.
ListedThe case is on the cause list for a given date. It may or may not be taken up that day.
For ordersArguments are done and the tribunal is to pass an order, or an application is waiting for a ruling.
AdjournedThe case was not heard and moved to a later date.

For a full explanation of these terms across courts, read how to read a case status.

05Common problems when checking

  • No result found: check the case type, the year and the tribunal name. A diary number and a case number are different things.
  • Status not updated: the portal depends on what the registry enters. A recent hearing may take time to show.
  • Portal is slow or down: try again later in the day or use the cause list on the same site.
  • Order after DRT: if you are going up in appeal, the matter moves to DRAT. Track it there. For Supreme Court filings later, see Supreme Court e-filing.
