Andhra Pradesh High Court Cause List: How to Check the Daily List Online (2026)
How to find the Andhra Pradesh High Court daily and advance cause list online, what each list type means, and how to stop scanning long PDFs for your matters.
Practical Guide · Cause List · Andhra Pradesh
Every morning, advocates in Andhra Pradesh open a long PDF just to find out whether their matter is listed, in which court and at what item number. Miss it, and a hearing can pass without you. This guide shows how to check the Andhra Pradesh High Court cause list online, by date, bench, court number, party or advocate, and how to avoid scanning the whole list each day. Last verified October 2026.
- Where to look: the Cause List section of the official Andhra Pradesh High Court website, or eCourts High Court Services.
- How to search: by date, bench, court number, party or advocate.
- List types: daily, advance, supplementary and weekly.
- Skip the scanning: Claw surfaces the next hearing date per matter automatically, with alerts.
01Why the cause list is a daily chore
To find the Andhra Pradesh High Court cause list, open the Cause List section on the court website, pick the list type and date, then search by bench, court number, party or advocate. That is simple in theory. In daily practice it is slow and easy to get wrong.
One list, many courts
The High Court of Andhra Pradesh sits at Amaravati and hears a very large number of writ petitions, civil revision petitions, appeals and criminal matters every working day. The list is split across many court halls and benches. A matter can appear in any of them, so you cannot guess where to look.
The list changes late
Matters are added, moved or dropped. A supplementary list can appear after the main list is out. If you checked once in the evening and never again, you may miss a late addition.
Hearing dates sit in the order, not in the list
The cause list tells you what is listed on a date. It does not tell you the next date a matter will come up after an adjournment. For that you must read the order or the case status, matter by matter.

This page is only about the cause list. To check the stage and status of one case, see how to check Andhra Pradesh High Court case status.
02Types of cause lists
Courts publish more than one kind of list, and each has a different job. Names and timing can differ slightly by bench, so confirm on the portal.
| List type | What it shows | When to use it |
|---|---|---|
| Daily cause list | Matters listed for hearing on that day, in item order, by court hall | The morning check, and to confirm your item number |
| Advance cause list | Matters planned for an upcoming day, published ahead of time | To prepare a day or two before the hearing |
| Supplementary list | Matters added after the main list was issued | A second check later in the day or the evening before |
| Weekly list | Matters fixed for particular days of the week, often by category | To plan the week, and to see category-wise listings |
The advance list is the one most advocates under-use. It gives you a head start on drafting and file preparation.
03Steps on the official portal
You can check the list on the official Andhra Pradesh High Court website or on eCourts High Court Services. Both are free and need no login for a basic view.
- Open the official site. Go to the High Court of Andhra Pradesh website and find the Cause List section in the main menu.
- Pick the list type. Choose daily, advance, supplementary or weekly.
- Select the date. Use the date picker. For tomorrow's list, choose the next working day.
- Choose how to search. Pick a bench or court number to read one court, or search by party name or advocate name to find your matter.
- Open the list. The list opens as a document or a page. Find your case number, then note the court hall, the item number and the bench.
- Try eCourts if needed. On hcservices.ecourts.gov.in, choose the High Court of Andhra Pradesh, open Cause List, select the date and the list type, and view or download it.
- Save it. Download the page for your file and add the date to your diary.
Some of these steps need a captcha on eCourts. If a captcha fails, refresh it and try again.
04Filters you can use
Filters decide how fast you find your matter. Use the narrowest one you have the details for.
| Filter | What you enter | Best when | Watch out for |
|---|---|---|---|
| Date | The hearing date | You want the full list for one day | Wrong date format or a court holiday |
| Bench | The judge or bench name | You know which bench hears your matter | Bench composition changes after roster changes |
| Court number | The court hall number | You already know the hall | Halls can change on the day |
| Party name | Petitioner or respondent name | You do not know the court or bench | Spelling differences hide the entry |
| Advocate | Advocate name or enrolment details | You want all your matters for a day | Name written in different ways |
Party and advocate searches are the most useful for a working lawyer, and also the most sensitive to spelling. Try a short form of the name if the full name returns nothing.
05Reading the list correctly
A cause list entry has a few parts, and each tells you something you can act on.
- Court hall and bench: where and before whom your matter is listed.
- Item number: your place in the order. A low number usually means an early call, so be present early.
- Case type and number: for example a writ petition or a civil revision petition with its number and year.
- Parties and counsel: use these to confirm it is your case and not a similar one.
- Stage or category: admission, for orders, final hearing and so on, where the list shows it.
The cause list tells you where to be today. It does not tell you when your matter comes back after an adjournment.
After a hearing, read the order for the next date and update your diary the same day. The eCourts case status page usually shows the next date too.
06Common problems and fixes
- The list is not out yet. Advance and daily lists appear at set times of the day. Check again later, and also check the supplementary list.
- Your case does not appear. Check the date, then the bench, then try a party name search. A matter may also be listed under an old or connected case number.
- The site is slow or down. Try eCourts High Court Services, or retry outside peak morning hours.
- The PDF is huge. Use the browser search (Ctrl+F) for your case number or client name instead of reading line by line.
- Wrong court hall. Re-check on the morning of the hearing, since halls and benches can change.
If you also handle Mumbai matters, the same routine is covered in our guide to the Bombay High Court cause list tracker. For consumer matters moving to the new portal, see the move from CONFONET to e-Jagriti.
